What is the right depth for Sunshelf?

Moved from here.. Wrong depth...please help!

Hi, came here to look for feedback on the right height for sunshelf ... is 6-9 inches the amount of water that you believe is ideal? Our project will begin next month so have not broke ground yet.

Six to nine inches seems shallow. Mine, which I assume is a standard depth, is right at 18" (actual water depth).

BTW, if my tape measure rusts, I'm sending you the bill

Mike here are some things to think about.

What do you want to use the shelf for? Sitting on you bum in the wonderful water? Sitting on a chair with your feet in the water? On a lounger?

Now think about what you think you will like the best THEN think about where do you want the water to hit you? Sitting on bum (would be my pick of use) do you want the water at your turmmy or chest? Chair-do you want your bum in the water or just above it? lounger-any of your body in the water at all?

Make sure your PB knows you are talking WATER depth. That should be half way up the face of the skimmer and in the middle of the the wateline tile.

I'd look at some fiberglass pools to see where they landed. Most major manufacturers have specs for each shell.

Make sure to plumb a return jet or two in the shelf, ours get hot when the pump is not running during the summer!! Ours is about 12"-14"

The return on the shelf will also help clean it as well.
