What did you do to your pool today?

I did some troubleshooting on my light a couple days ago. If the breaker for my pump is on, the gfci breaker for the light trips. I found this awfulness underground next to my pad.

That's how worthless my pool builder is. They can't even glue electrical conduit together. If I was the one who had it built, they would've had a much different experience. The line leaving my breaker box is 14ga romex. The wires hooked to the light cord at the pad is red and black, so something is spliced somewhere. I've gotta do a little digging to see if I can find the T in the conduit where it is spliced.

Took a chainsaw to a pine tree and cut it back away from overhanging the pool. Hopefully next spring I'll have fewer needles to contend with on the walk, the cover and in the pool and baskets.

My kids and their cousins swam yesterday. Found out an ultraframe can survive a "wave pool", as my son took an inner tube and jumped up and down to make waves. I was having a heart attack, but the younger kids loved the 2' waves, lol. Even heard a shout of "this is better than the water park!".

Which is worse? Leaving the 17 yr old IN CHARGE OF the pool or leaving the 17 yr old WITH a pool. LOL

well, my wife will still be there, but she does not want to deal with the chemistry, so I am teaching him - trying to keep it nice and simple - just test FC daily, add liquid as necessary and back flush the DE filter if needed - keep FC between 5 and 15 (for my CYA of 40) - a big range, but I would prefer to be on the high side and give him room to be conservative while I am gone - with the greatly variable and unscheduled bather load (including peeing children), I have seen FC drops during the day from 2 to 8 over the last couple weeks

I still remember my wife explaining how taking care of the pool was little or no work (according to her friends with pools...and husbands doing the maintenance) when she was selling me on the idea of a pool - I guess she was right - for her, anyway
