What are these bugs and how do I get rid of them?

This is year two with our pool and we didn’t have these bugs last year. I’ve had my pool up to SLAM levels a few times, and it’s not doing anything to get rid of them. They seem like just harmless beetles… I’m not sure if they bite or not.

They are small. I’ve been using a filter sock, but it’s been a big pain and isn’t really gathering them as easily as I wish it would. My filter is just sucking a bunch of them in, but they just keep coming and coming!

Unfortunately, there are so many species that can be in our water it's hard to keep track. They love TFP clear water. Chemical levels don't always influence them either.

Water beetles. There are products that will not allow them to form the air bubble they need to breath and they will drown (Bug Out). You'll not really be able to keep them away.
