The pool that came with the house we recently bought has a CMP Pool Defender sacrificial zinc anode. I don't know much about its maintenance before we took over, but I do know that the CSI was very high when I took over it. I was cleaning the filters and the salt cell this past weekend and opened up the Pool Defender lid to take a peek.
What do you think I'm looking at here? A mostly or fully worn away zinc anode covered with a hearty layer of calcium deposits? Some kind of byproduct coating of the zinc sacrificing itself?
I know that this forum isn't a big fan of sacrificial anodes, but were I inclined to restore this thing to its former glory, what do folks here think I should do?
