What about all the pool store chemicals I have? Can I use any of them? I easily have over $1000 in chemicals.

Once you can test your water chemistry you will have a better idea. The two cal hypo may be usable. Plus the trichlor as Crystal * mentioned.

As mentioned above, the tablets could be useful, and the shockwave and the burnout 73 appears to just be calcium hypochlorite (check the ingredients)- You could use it, so long as your calcium hardness isn't too high. Before I got a SWG, I would keep it around during the rainy season when my calcium hardness would get to the low side of normal.

The silk guard and smart shock have copper- definitely get rid of those.

Anything you have will go like hot cakes on FB marketplace or the OfferUp app. There is some moral dilemma here for giving somebody else unneeded chemicals, but rest assured they will be buying them with or without you so you might as well recover some of your losses.

The Smart Shock contains copper. Do not use that one. The Shock Wave and Burn Out are both cal-hypo. If you do not have issues with hard water they are ok to use. The silk sticks are trichlor they are ok to use if CYA is low enough. They contain CYA and will cause it to slowly rise while in use. They will also keep long term in a cool, dry place. Bio dex is for stains and scale. It contains cirtric acid and proprietary stuff they don't name.

As I like to point out, foisting pool problems (IE pool store chemicals) on other unsuspecting pool owners may not be aligned with your ethics. If it is, sell/give away! But if not, you can dispose of these according to your municipalities hazard materials disposal instructions. Many have hazardous materials disposal services or special days/places to take them.

I have several hundred dollars of pool store magic potions. I keep them around as a reminder to me as to why I want to keep doing what I learned here, rather than go back to the pool store chasing of problems!
