I have just had a new vinyl liner installed. The installer located a well point that I was unaware of (two previous installers didn’t even mention such a device). It is not a large diameter pipe that will fit a sub pump. It is a 1.5” unthreaded PVC that was capped and was a few inches below the lawn. It is currently connected to what looks to be a standard 1.5 HP pool pump that belongs to the installer. I’d like to know what would be a good pump to buy to move the ground water when necessary. I don’t know how far below the pool structure these generally go, but I have right around 10’ between the deepest point and the deck.

I would think a transfer pump would work. Maybe something like this

Is it a collection point for precipitation or is it seep water (ground water)?

If precipitation then the above pump from Harbor Freight. If seep then probably some more reliable system with may be a small shallow pit and float.

Are you trying to dig a pit and then hook up to this to continually remove groundwater or just occasionally wanting to remove any before a possible drain or what-not? If just occasional and temporary you can use transfer pump or an old pool pump (to do it faster) would work and just hook up a backwash hose to the pressure side of the pump. With the pool pump you'd have to hook up to the pipe and can use flexible pvc coupling to easily remove and connect. If digging a pit then yeah can use a sump pump with float switch which is what I have but I also have a fiberglass shell. Doing the permanent pump you'll have some work ahead of you.
