Good morning. Twice a day I get inactive alert messages that say “Intellichlor 1 has lost communication”. The messages are usually exactly 12 hours apart. For example, yesterday’s messages were at 3:07 AM and 3:07 PM. I sent a message to Pentair support and they said it could be an intermittent WiFi failure. I’m not confident in that diagnosis because I should be getting VSF pump communication lost messages if that were the case.

Originally I was not concerned too much about it. There appeared to be no impact on operations. However in the last three weeks, I’ve started getting the same message at 4:08 AM every few days and it remains active. In addition, my pump shuts down at that time.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

When your pump shuts off, your IntelliChlor should shut off. That is normal and the way it should be. Communication will be lost when the IntelliChlor shuts down with the pump.

Pentair does not do a good job of filtering out normal and nuisance alerts from problem alerts.

If you don’t want the see those nuisance alerts, turn them off.

Pump schedule is Pool 24 hours 5pm to 5pm every day. Spa Mon and Friday 3pm to 330pm. I can’t get to pump right now to check service mode.

Intellichlor does shut off when pump turns off. I don’t know if pump is turning off at 3:07 AM and pm.

Thanks!

When I go into service mode, pump display stays on with data such as 0 RPM, 0 volts, time and “stopped”.

The cell is reporting salinity that is within 400PPM of my testing.

When the message stays active and shuts the pump down, it’s always at 4:08AM. It doesn’t happen every day, but usually every 3to 4 days.

In my system, when the cell is performing its twice daily salinity check (alternating flashing red and green lights) it reports a loss of communication. I disabled that notification so I wouldn't get nuisance messages twice a day. That would explain the lost comms 12 hours apart.

In addition, my pump shuts down at that time.
That may be a separate problem. Since you operate 24/7, have you tried deleting the schedule and just keeping the "Pool" circuit on constantly?

61,

If your pump is scheduled to run 24/7, it should never shut off on its own..

Do you just have the pool circuit scheduled to run 24/7, or do you have several schedules that together run 24/7??

Why is the spa schedule for half an hour??

When you are just looking at your schedules... Are you shutting off the pool circuit, and then turning on the spa circuit??

Or... Is the Pool circuit scheduled to run 24/7 and all you are doing is scheduling to turn on the spa circuit?? (There is no reason to shut off the pool circuit..)

Keep in mind that if you manually turn a circuit on, it can screw up the scheduling and the egg-timer will take over.. If that happens, the circuit will run for the default of 12 hours, unless you have set the egg-timer to some other value.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have the pool circuit run 24/7. I do not have the schedules add up to 24:7. The spa is only on Monday and Friday for thirty minutes each week. I do that to exercise the valves and make sure the water gets exchanged. The spa pump speed is higher, so that’s the way I ensure the spa runs. I do not have the pool circuit turn off. Ihave the pump run when it changes from pool to spa and vice versa. None of the schedules/egg timers correspond with the loss of communication times or the pump shutoff times.

Thanks!
