I am going to install the Hayward water temp sensor and want to make sure I put it in the optimal location. I read a few posts about it doesn’t matter and also read it was better to install it after pump but before filter. I added a picture and wanted to solicit some feedback on where ppl thought was the best place to install it.IMG_9602.jpeg
 
Your SWCG is also incorrect. It should also be installed after the filter. The SWCG should be the very last thing in your system before the water exits the pool. Your SWCG gets unfiltered water running through it, which can’t be good at all; and your filter sees very high concentrations of chlorinated water constantly, which also can’t be good.

Your SWG should be installed after the filter for several reasons. It's consequential enough you'll want to move it. It needs to go where your sacrificial anode is.

You may need to go vertical in order to fit it, because the flow switch should be in the same run of pipe as the cell. Anode can go anywhere after being moved.

I went back and looked at the manual and you are correct. Thanks. Good news is I have time to fix it before it warms up…lol

It needs to go where your sacrificial anode is.

You may need to go vertical
If going vertical @black_vanilla , remember the flow switch needs 'upflow' so gravity on the down side can't close a failed switch.

I would leave the flow switch where it is because with simple plumbing, it can go anywhere. The key is that it needs to have flow when the SWG does, you don't have multiple legs which may be closed at times.
 
It is better to keep the flow switch horizontal if possible, so leaving be would be more ideal except we've seen the Tristar pumps rhythmically pulse when backpressure reached a certain level, from poorly maintained filters and deadheading. OP can't deadhead, so it just leaves filter impedence.

I'd feel better having it after the filter if it was mine.
 
Valves close off a leg, or redirect flow in 2 of the 3 choices on a T, such as a heater bypass or when multiple skimmers/returns each have a leg back to the pad and you want to run one or the other.

ball valves are cheap by design and tend to break often. Rebuildable valves such as the Jandy Never Lube (or pentair / hayward evivalent) are preferred because you can easily replace the guts if ever need be. You also rarely need to with a beefier valve so it's a double win.

With your equipment pad above the water level when you open your pump or filter for maintenance it should drain back into the pool.

If you had 3-way diverter valves at your suction and return T’s it would allow you to adjust the flow between the pipes, shutoff one pipe if it has a problem, and shutoff the equipment so it would not drain into the pool if opened for maintenance.

Your builder cheaped out not installing diverter valves at the T’s.
 
Also, your SWG should be the last thing before the returns, after the filter, and not between the pump and filter.

That placement before the filter allows debris to get caught in the SWG cell and clog it. You want clean filtered water flowing through the SWG.
