Water level drop after rain

We received an insane amount of rain over the past couple of days. It took about 8-9 hours to pump off the pool cover yesterday... and when I opened the pool the water level was at the bottom of the skimmer!

I’m assuming all the rain water somehow forced out pool water? Maybe u set the cover and into the cover housing at the end? I don’t see any visible holes.
Anyone dealt with something similar?

I'm thinking (hoping) the same. Happens quite a bit over the winter as well. In some cases, the cover pump also pulled-out water from through the material.

Our winter cover had a rip in it we couldn’t see. When daughter and grandson siphon off top water they emptied quite a bit of pool water too.

Just to follow up... topped it off today and water level is holding fine. We had so much rain that it pushed pool water out into the auto cover housing and drained it off.
