Got a new Hayward pump installed. I noticed that the pump basket is not staying full with water. It's dropping to just above the basket rim. I'm going to call the pool guy out cause I don't understand all the pool lingo and dealing with the equipment is just not my thing. But I still wanted to see what you guys have to say about this. I opened the basket and let the water come up. It still goes back down. I also did a backwash cause I'm in the middle of SLAM. It filled up with water but a couple hours later I see that it is back down to just above the basket.

That can happen with a variable speed pump at low rpm, but unusual in a 2 speed pump you have.

Be sure to clean and use o-ring grease (silicone) on the lid and drain plug o-rings, to eliminate air leaks.
