Water filling in Skimmer basket every few min

Hi

I noticed today while cleaning the pool that every few min see bubbles near the pool return outlet towards the deep end and then I hear water filling in the skimmer basket.
I didn’t see that happen before.
What could be the reason - is my pool level low. Water is at the level(slightly above) of skimmer opening. Should water level completely cover the skimmer opening ?

Water level should be close to the mid point of your skimmer opening.

I suspect that your Weir door is stuck up.. This floating door is between the mouth of the skimmer and the skimmer basket. it is what make the skimmer.... well, skim. The door should float with the water level.

And, as Marty points out, the water level should be about in the middle of the skimmer mouth.
