Want to add auto fill but the pool is already built and has no equalizer line - instead has these two ports ..

There are two PVC lines that port to the pool side by side one is 3/4" and one is 1/2" and they run under the deck to the dead lawn. They do not connect to anything but were in a wood cover box with fabric on the end I am guessing to keep debris out.
There is no equalizer port in the side of the pool surface but there is a skimmer to the right that has a inlet looking vent and the bottom of the skimmer has a port right next to the suction inlet.
I suspect that this second port is the skimmer equalizer. <?>
Is there a way to install a Pentair T40FW Autofill that I bought off amazon thinking it was an easy process?
Any ideas before I return this filler? Its a hassle to drag a hose over and it seems previous owner was on to something but I cannot figure out what exactly.
And yes I need to reset the skimmer concrete, its been a battle around here and pool is now the focal area.

Thanks in advance

Rob,

For sure they are not equalizer ports..

I suspect that they are overflow ports... Any water above the middle of your tile line will drain out through them..

An equalizer port would be below your skimmer, on the water side of the gunite...

Seems like you could use the smaller one for a fill line.. Or, just add the water at the equipment pad at a pool return pipe.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Is it possible one was connected to an irrigation valve? If so, you could use an automated spinkler valve to add water when needed. You could use a cheap wifi cam to monitor the water level.

Well that does make sense - the fresh water is in the insulated wrap top right. its 1/2" copper to a step up to 3/4" PVC for teh sprinklers.
That stated, the place had a heater back in the day and the PVC return off the cartridge goes to the valves pictured here, meeting the bronze return line on the floor.
If it saves digging a line across the lawn to one of the through the wall PVC, I'd like to have an idea on how to add a fresh water inlet port here.
Disassemble the bronze valve for example?

I have a Ring that I use to cheat the get off my chair and look at the level. There are irrigation valves around the former lawn that I was going to use for potted plants in the automation system that is in place.

The only way to use the filler you purchased would be to dig a hole so that the top of the filler was at "deck" level and the body well below the water level of the pool.
It would involve having the pool drilled so that a fill line at the level of the lower port in the filler could be installed to it. Otherwise the filler would try to raise the water level to whichever of those pipes you used, would have to sit above ground as it uses gravity to fill the pool.
The smaller port near the top of the filler body is for the water line that would have to be run to the device.
Sorry.
There are some good alternatives being recommended already.
The smaller of the pipes in the picture was probably going to be used as a filler line, builders started putting them higher so that your could hear water splashing as it fills and maybe not forget to turn it off.
If you can find the other end and get water to it through a 24V sprinkler valve, Kona Labs makes a great retro-fit auto filler. Its not inexpensive.
