Wait to check CYA after refill

Hi there! I’m anxiously waiting to get another drain and refill tomorrow morning to bring my CYA down in order to slam my green pool.

We just did about 20% drain and refill and it brought the CYA down about 20, from 120 to 100. Water is expensive and we live on a well (with tons of metals in the water), so we are going to attempt slamming at a CYA of 90 or less.

Do I need to wait a certain amount of time to test the CYA? The person filling our water recommended waiting 9 hours, which is one full cycle with our pump/filter.

An hour or two will be more than sufficient. Remember, it's not about turning over the water (we virtually never consider turnover as a necessary metric for anything) but about mixing the water up. An hour or two is more than enough time for the water chemistry to even out.
