15k gal... probably bragging.
I bought a VSP two years ago but didn’t swap it for a 1.25HP single-speed until recently. In California, $0.45/kWh. Finally installed it and it's been running for three weeks. The energy savings are incredible—it's using 1/10th the energy (per hour) at 1100 RPM and runs 20 hours a day now (vs. 10 hours at 3200 RPM). My pool is much cleaner, and I'm using fewer chemicals. I have a few small leaks to fix before dropping to 600 RPM, at which point I might run it 24/7. I still need a flow meter for accurate turnover numbers (but 3 weeks in, it looks great). At this rate, even if the pump fails every 6 months, i still break even against PGE rates.
