VSF pump benefits convinced me, but now that I have it, don’t know what to do!

Hello Experts,

Brand new pool construction completed late last week. We purchased the Pentair Intelliflo VSF pump. However, while the manual is great at teaching me how to program Speeds 1-4, I still don’t know what to do with them!
1: what does egg timer mode mean?
2: I live in crazy heat OK. Direct sun and no shade all day. How does this impact the hours it should be run?
3: I believe I have calculated the info correctly with the following specifications, please correct me if I’m wrong. Pool size is 20 x 40 free form at its widest points. No spa. 8.5’ to 3.5’ deep. So approximately 22,000 gallons. GPH 2,750 and GPM 45. I have 2 inch piping.
Given all that info, can anyone please recommend a schedule that would get me started??

I should also add I have three sheers and one bubbler and I would like them to be running during our peak swim time during the day and early evening.

I'm sure there is a pool school article, but here is what I would do:

1. Find out your lowest RPM that still holds your skimmer weir door down.
2. If you have a salt water generator, find the lowest RPM that does not give you a low flow error

Take the higher RPMs of 1&2 + 100 RPMs for good measure and have that be your 1st setting and what you run for the majority of the time and Speed setting #1. For me, this is 1500 RPMs

For Speed Setting #2, find a little big higher RPMs that give you better skimming, for me this is 2500 RPMs.

For settings 3&4, find the RPMs for your sheers or any other water features.

Play around with the timing and schedule and find what works best for you and your pool.

Do you have a salt water generator, gas, electric heater, heat pump or solar panels? Any of these will affect your minimum RPM.
If it is just a plain pool with sheer descents, which is what I have, I find that 1000rpm it skims just fine, but in my case wind direction is my ally, and sheer descents look good at 1700 rpm.

Play around with different speeds and see what happens.
