Vastly different readings

I hope someone can help me understand this. I have TF-100 test kit. Currently they are about 8 months old. With this set I get TA at 100, CH at 450 (salt pool).

I just received a new set of replacements. With the new set, I get TA at 280 and CH at 625. I store my kit in my home in a cabinet. How can these readings be so different? Could the older ones be bad?

I noticed that with the new set, the colors of the R-0008 and R-0011L are not as deep as the older set.

For TA, hold the bottle vertically and wipe the tip with a damp paper towel after every drop.

No clue on CH. Are you using a Speed Stir?

Mr. Bruce< Yes using speed stir. I just retested TA and CH and I took your advice and wiped the tip. This time TA was at 100 (was 280 the first time) so I think that wiping the tip on the TA test made a huge difference. CH also showed a huge difference this time at 425 was (625 the first time). I don't know why the difference in CH but the second test was more in line with the old kit. I've been testing my own water for 20 yrs and never had this happen. Maybe I had a senior moment and did something wrong on the first tests.:giggle:

Pooldv< Thanks for the welcome. This is a great site and worth supporting.

Ha! Don't we all! No, it is known issue that when very fresh, the TA reagent can form static electricity on the tip and the drops are too small. After a couple tests, it should disappear.
