My vacuum works fine for normal dirt and whatnot… however, when I open my pool I have a very wooded yard and even though we cover it, end up with tons of leaves, dirt and whatnot I call oak moss. I use the vacuum to get it all out, but as you could imagine, the skimmer gets fu really quickly… is there some sort of attachment I can add to my vacuum (like some sort of extra leave bag or something) to get extra capacity so I don’t have to clean the skimmer ever 5 mins? Here is a pic of the swamp when we open every year…

Try a venturi-style leaf bagger. These work great at getting larger material/debris off the bottom without the use of your pump. It connects to a garden hose and a pool pole and uses the suction of water pressure to pull debris up into the bag. Follow up your regular vacuum to get the sediment.

Any specific brand better than other
Probably, but I bought mine from HD about 15 years ago. A couple of the plastic caster wheels fell off, but I still use it when needed. I would see what you can find locally and compare if possible. Leslie's has one for around $50, but not sure if its any better.

Mine came with a quick connect for a hose. I would get a cheap hose-end on/off valve so you don't have to shut off the water at the valve each time you clean the net. Something like this.

My bagger helped me clean up this mess after a huge wind storm in January. Took a full trash cans of stuff out. It's a bit hard to maneuver around at first until you get used to using the hose and pole move it around. They really work well...

There is also an inline deal like this
Almost every major manufacturer sells one

I have that exact basket, but can’t seem to get the right hose connection - from the basket to the skimmer. Every hose I get that fits the basket is too small for the skimmer inlet and I haven’t been able to find an adapter. :cautious:

Have you tried a cone? IMG_2990.png

There's also the lower tech leaf rake for pools. These are flat at the end and the shape of the frame (by design) allows you push it along the bottom as it picks up leaves and debris.

We do have one of these… and use it regularly, but opening the pool is tough…this is what we are up against every year…
