Using Intellicenter Valve Output to Control Stenner Pump

That is with the Pentair tank and pump. The pump and tank cost is similar between the two but there are some ergonomics with the Pentair design that makes it so you never pour chlorine. Simply unscrew the cap and invert it into the tank with the seal still on. Then tap the bottom. We haven't done a full writeup on it yet but you can pull the repo and play with it on a pc or mac if you don't have a pi. There is a writeup for the full blown version that includes probes however in the repo wiki. The Chem Doser is simply a time based dosing mechanism without a flow cell and does not dose on demand.

Pretty cool, especially with the probes. It would be very nice to automate away the seasonal adjustments. Bummer that there are no combined chlorine probes available with reasonable price. Since we only superchlorinate when needed the DPD-FAS test is a regular part of the toolkit. The poolController project looks great. I do have a couple of pi’s around and definitely planning to try it out.

Yeah the price for amperometric probes had been steadily falling. The Chemtrol fell to $1,100 and if it had dropped below $1k I would have bitten. Unfortunately, like everything else they have been rising again and where you find they exist they are ~$2k. From all that I understand about them they are really not that complicated. They are no more complicated than a pH or ORP probe and have good reliability when installed properly. I have no idea why they aren't mass produced.
