Upgrading Pool Equipment

I am looking to upgrade my pool pump to a variable speed and figure this is a good time to add an automation system. I have an Aqua Rite chlorine generator that I would like to base the system on. I am assuming my best bet is to make everything Hayward to help with integration. What are my best options for a variable speed pump and automation system that will integrate with my Aqua Rite system and control the pool cleaner with booster bump, heater, and spa?

Will something like the TriStar VS 900 Omni with smart controls work for everything?

Do i need to update my heater as well or will the system still turn on/off an older heater?

Fwiw, I use an Aqua Rite chlorine generator with a Pentair Intellitouch and a VS pump... works great! An Easytouch would do the business too.

The only thing I know about heaters is that they usually just have a "fireman's switch" to turn them on/off, let's ask @Jimrahbe

Heaters are pretty much universal.. Almost all heater can be controlled by all automation systems. Depending on the specific automation, it takes two or three small wires between the heater and the automation.

Most people here recommend the Ray_Pak heater, but I don't see it as a major issue which brand you use.

Thanks,

Jim R.
