Hi everyone,

I’m getting settled into our new house after moving and I can’t help but plan some pool updates and repair.
About the pool. It’s an in ground pool and spa, about 20k gal, salt water, with almost all Pentair equipment. I’ve removed the pump powered vacuum, put Winston our robot in, been working on the water chemistry, and added a catch a kid net.

Older looking IntelliTouch system i5
Wired wall mount remote
Spa side remote
Intelliflo filter pump
DE filter
Pentair Gas heater
Pentair feature pump
Broken Hayward stand alone salt cell control
T15 salt cell

Here is what it needs: new salt cell controller and cell, lights that need repair or replacement that don’t work, and eventually a filter pump. It has a vs inteliflo but it has some internal rattling that tells me it could go out sometime soon.

Here is what I want to add: Phone/tablet control, LED lights in the existing niches, and a salt cell that is not controlled by its own system.

Here is my questions:
1. Can I add the screen logic2 interface with wireless connection kit to this system
2. Can this system expand to control a Pentair salt cell
3.Can this system support the features of a 12v LED color light

M,

1. Can I add the screen logic2 interface with wireless connection kit to this system...

I don't see why not. ScreenLogic is an add on system and comes with its own wireless antenna and transceivers

2. Can this system expand to control a Pentair salt cell..

You would need to buy a Pentair cell either an IC40 or IC60 with an external power supply. You basically route the AC power to the external power supply through the Pump/Filter relay inside the IntelliTouch and connect the control card inside the external power supply to the Com Port in the IntelliTouch and you are good to go.

3.Can this system support the features of a 12v LED color light

It should.. most all lights are controlled by a relay (or relays)... With a 120 volt system the AC power goes through the relay to the light in the pool. With a 12 volt system the AC power goes through a relay then to a step down transformer and then to the light in the pool. You would just use the same relay that is being used now, but rewire the output of the relay to go to the transformer. Keep in mind that you might have to replace the wiring in the conduit going to the pool light.. which may or may not be impossible... :(

The light may not work, just because the GFCI outlet (in the bottom right of your panel) has popped.

Very nice looking pool set up by the way... Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

Hi! The plaster has seen better days. I’m guessing it will need a face lift in the next few years. I’m going to do some equipment upgrades in the next few weeks and get the automation going. I think it’s about 8 feet and yes, it’s a good size spa. The pool has a great layout and fits the yard nice.

Hi Jim, thanks for the info! I’m going to go for it and post results! Thanks for the info!
