Upgrading my single speed pump to VS. Am I getting the right size?

There is really no wrong size when it comes to VS pumps, they are variable so by definition, fit any pool. However, there are a few advantages of larger VS pumps vs smaller VS pumps. Most notably, the larger pumps are a bit quieter at the same flow rates. Also, they are less likely to get get clogged with debris.

boy oh boy did they cram that plumbing in there... Can you even remove the lid on the pump.. :)

It looks like a new pump and if so grab you a V Green VS motor and connect it to your pump.. easy peasy... Grab a rebuild kit with a Salt or SCS seal... Ask Inyo what one your pump needs..

Just barely. There's about 4" between the top of the pump and the pipe. I'm not the original owner, so I've no idea why they did it the way the did.

Are u even able to remove the pump basket? When replacing this I would definitely take the opportunity to reconfigure that set up 😬
