Looking to upgrade my 2HP Hayward super pump. My plan is to replace the motor with a Century V-Green 1.65 HP VS motor. I plan on ordering the replacement shaft seals and gasket. Since I am going down in HP I will get the impeller Hayward uses on its VS pumps. Also plan to order the VLink controller for wireless operation mainly because my pump is in a location that would not allow easy access to the control panel. Anyone have any experience with this. Is it worth it to change the motor or should I just get a whole new pump.

The pump is a Hayward super pump looks like the motor was changed out years ago. The motor is a Century Magnatek 2HP single speed commercial duty pump so it is a power hog. By my calculation 230v 9amp run full time would $128 a month don’t run it that much but I can run a VS pump a lot cheaper. Also the date on the motor is 1997 so not sure how long it will last. I bought the house a year ago so I don’t know the run history of the pump.
