UPDATE: My Pool Builder Was Arrested!

Exactly! I have no leverage at all ... my "measly" $100k project is just a drop in the bucket. But its not just pool builders, I've had same problems getting plumbers, architects, all other types just to call me back.

@kimkats Yes thankfully I am not one of the ones with unfinished pool and subs putting liens on my house!

Stuff like that is a BIG reason I do 99% of home repair work myself. Hard to find honest contractors.

@markayash After watching the pool building process, and learning along the way, I am 100% confident I could build pools myself better than 80% of PB's out there. This is the sad state of contractors in the US ...

Glad you got your finished! Keep any receipts and information especially for expensive stuff like the pump incase you have issues down the road.

Yeah that’s crazy but I’m glad they got caught. It really is hard to find good reasonable help these days.

I hear that. When we were installing our heater and hot tub, I called 12 different electricians to come run the 50A disconnect/GFCI for the HotTub, and a new outlet for the heater. Only 2 of the 12 even called me back, one came and quoted me $2700 ( ) , the other wanted $250 to come and give me a quote.

My pool builder was arrested! Apparently dozens of customers are left with unfinished pools, despite having paid the majority of contract amount. I decided to pay the extra $20,000 (directly to subs) and thankfully got my pool finished. I feel lucky to be able to put this all behind me.

When the inevitable economic crash comes these guys will be begging for work......... hopefully for minimum wage (that's about what most of them are worth)!
