Hi all,

Just joined but think I'll be active as im installing a 15ft round gre steel wall agp. Dug about 30cm on the low side, bit more on the higher. Digging was very difficult as ground got extremely rocky. Put the walls up, no water yet, and realized one side is about 1.5 inches lower. Taking the thing out and digging deeper isn't a possibility. Should I lift up the walls and throw some dirt under the low side? Or will that just cause more potential problems and this much tilt is ok?

Thank you for your opinion,
Richard

Hello Richard and welcome to TFP! Typically we recommend digging down as it is more stable. However if you have reached rock, and it's too low there, you might consider adding something other than soft soil that would be more stable. Dirt tends to become more compacted over time and/or get washed out. Certainly your call though depending on base materials and equipment available to do the work. Maybe shim the pole bases with a higher paver stone to achieve a level waterline and use a crushed gravel or stone on the top of the rock on that lower side? If you are forced to use soil, try to work it really good with a plate compactor then ensure the pool landscaping is groomed to prevent water form getting under there. TFP advises to maintain a level pool with a tolerance of no more than one inch out of level. Hope that helps.

Hey Tex - appreciate the support. Dug out on the high side, added a paver stone on the lower side and filled in the gaps with compacted dirt (about 1/8th and inch). Got the pool up with a few inches of water and am working out the final wrinkles before going all the way up.

Richard
