Go with the SWG. Not even a dilemma here in Texas in my opinion (I’m here in Sugar Land). Yes the feel is great but it’s all about water sanitation. I’d rather saw my arm off than not have an SWG down here.
If you want your pool to be your second full time job get a non SWG pool. Honestly.
Also the “salt will ruin the deck and stone” is a load of **. I have Travertine decking and coping all around my pool. I don’t have a SINGLE speck of damage from salt and I’ve had my pool for six years. I also don’t “seal” anything. We are talking about 3500 ppm salt not 60,000 ppm like the ocean..

Don't forget to get pics with measurements. Sometimes my shovel was the 'marker' on the tape measure, sometimes it was the tape measure itself. Lol.

Don't ever use that tab feeder with a SWG installed. The tab juice will backflow into the SWG and trash the plates.
Better yet - remove the tab feeder completely. If you ever need to use tab, put them in a tab floater.

It's a leak waiting to happen. Not today, or tomorrow. But several years from now, as you pull out of your driveway on your way to a 2 week cruise. Exactly then.

Beautiful pool.

Just chiming in support for the SWG decision you made. I’ve had unsealed travertine coping, decking, and wall tile with a SWG and they all still look great three years later.

My SWG went out earlier this year and took a while for Jandy to replace under warranty, and those few weeks I had to manually chlorinate made me very glad to have a SWG. Very low maintenance, plus don’t have to pay $30 for a week’s worth of chlorine in the TX summer.

They installed it by accident, and then kept it there . I wasn’t sure if I should say anything or not.

I know who the builder is
Very keen to know the final feedback you have on them as I had them bid on our next project. Felt their design was weak, but they have a good reputation.
Out of the 10 builders that I had bid, only 3 were ok with doing SW, some outright said they dont' do it.

As for the tab feeder, it will get installed regardless as they have to startup the pool for 30 days before you can switch to salt.

They need to put something under the steel to get it off the ground. It will do no good on the bottom. It needs to be up about half way so the concrete will enclose it. Some people use "chairs" made for this purpose. Some just use broken pieces of brick. Do not matter so long as it is off the ground.
