the umbrellea sleeve cap threads are stripped, any suggestions on how to fix

Are you saying they screwed in instead of just pushing in? Are both sides stripped?

You don't really need the caps. But, the sleeve itself may just be friction fit in the hole (mine are). If so you can easily just replace the sleeve.
