Typical jump rock size?

I picked a 1,000#+ rock that has to be 4-5’ long and 2-3’ wide. It’s probably 1’ thick

Is this a typical jump rock or do y’all go smaller but taller?

I'm in the same boat trying to get a jumping rock from PB. Considering staking two that fit well with each other too. This has been tricky, and it's a pain in the butt to move those things I'm sure which will make it more $$$. Following and good luck!

Pick what catches your eye and goes with the color and design in your yard. Make sure if you do go higher that it is not so high it is a problem to get up on. Also think about how deep the water is where you put it. You don't want to go too high for that reason also.

Have you talked to your house insurance about a jumping rock?

That looks like a cool rock, I would use it :). The rock we put in was about 5ft long and came to a point. If you search my build, you can see how they installed it. It sticks out about 8-10 inches into the pool.

Just found your build thread. Awesome pool. Rock is the perfect size. I found a place that is selling them by the pallet for ~$100-$140 and weighing 2500 lbs. So the rock is cheap good rock...but getting it here -_-

My rock appears to be shedding a layer, it hasn’t delivered yet. Do y’all think this is an issue? Should I pick a different rock because of this?

That appears to be poor grade flagstone. I would not recommend putting that near your pool. It will flake and get in your pool and be rough on swimmer's feet.

Thanks! We are really pleased with how it came out and our builder was great throughout. I can see how getting that delivered would be rough, they brought ours on a flat bed truck, they had 5 or 6 guys move and lift it into place., I wasn’t sure they would be able to move it as far as they did.

Well we have two stone yards in our area that our PB uses. Both places have moss rocks that seem like sandstone. I’ve crawled over every rock at both places and They’re all chippy. I guess that’s not normal?

There are some really big rocks that don’t seem like this but they’re way too big.

Will they let you try to chip all of the loose stuff off to see what it ends up like? Are there other rock yards in the area that YOU could source a rock from? Would they allow you to break one of the over sized rocks down to your size?

Kim:kim: (and yeah I WOULD ask the rock yard these questions-all they can say is yes or no....you never know!)

I found a new rock!!!

I didn’t know I liked rocks so much.

Not sure KK, I wasn’t there. It is sitting on some type of concrete or grout. that is how they leveled it and are holding it in place. Rock weighs a little over 1600 pounds. One of the few I found in the area that wasn’t chipping away.

I went to the same two rock yard’s in the area multiple times. Persistence pays.

They stack rocks, I suppose most people aren’t as picky as me and just find something on top.

I rolled in at closing time one evening and this guy was just sitting there looking at me. Someone must have bought his northern neighbor and he was seeing daylight for the first time.
