We have inherited our viynl pool and various plugs and I hadn't thought much about the plug until now.
I have doing some research on 0-rings, and it lead me to various kinds of plugs with o-rings on them.
None of our plugs do.

Turns out we have 3 kinds of plugs :

But I am not sure if I'm using them properly or I should switch to those with o-rings as in : https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/5d....jpeg?odnHeight=612&odnWidth=612&odnBg=FFFFFF

The threaded black ones have teflon tape around the thread but I read maybe that is not such a good idea to use ? Will these threaded ones make a good seal without the teflon tape?
Not sure if the yellow plug is any different from the black threaded, but it is deeper, so easier to handle...
Rubber expansion i think is ONLY for pipe ends - e.g. I disconnect our salt cell, bring it in for the winter and use these guys at the two ends. I suspect they should never be used on the returns only on the pipes?

Rubber expansion plugs are often used in returns. Returns are often not threaded.
