Two pool timers

We recently bought a house that has an in-ground pool. The owners had to install a new pump because the old one wasn't working, the pool guy installed a dual speed motor. I have no idea what type of motor was there to begin with. There are two timers set up, and the pool guy was stumped as to why there would be two. After researching I see you can use the two timer method to change the motor speed. Now I am wondering if they are the right timers for this purpose. I can't tell if they are they are the T104 and the T106, or if they are both T104s or both T106s. Is there a way to tell? Here are pictures of my timers. Are they still usable?

a,

Welcome to TFP.... I am sorry that you have yet to get an answer to your timer question, but this is a slow time a year for us... :shark:

While it might be possible to somehow salvage what you have, for me anyway it would not be worth the work or the likelihood of future failure..

If this were my pool, I would rip both of your rusty relics out and replace them with a new Intermatic timer, either a digital one or a mechanical one.

This would give you a reliable timer system going forward..

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

The top timer only has 2 wire connections (besides the ground), and no on-off tabs, I doubt it was doing anything.

The bottom only has the off tab which would have required it to manually started each day with an "off" programed for about 9:30PM .

The times set is about 12 hours difference between the two timers.

Are you sure they did anything?

Methinks you need to evaluate how you want your system to work before you change anything.
