I've not seen a definitive answer to this one in my searches, I hope an auto-cover expert can weigh in!
We are doing a refurb: coping, tile, plaster. We have an underguide-track autocover.
I have competing bids from two PBs, and the one we really like wants to use a Travertine coping. However, PB2 says Travertine is not good for the tracks, as the material is too soft to hold the bolts reliably. I consulted with an auto-cover installer associated with PB2 who agrees. PB1 insists they have installed plenty of Travertine w/auto-covers and have no issues. (Mind you: neither PB does the autocover itself - I must contract with the cover installer separately.)
(Converting to the encapsulation-install method is not an option due to deck height; we have to hang the track.)
Anyone heard of this as a concern? Which "expert" do we believe as both have something to sell?
Eric
