First post. Totally green but lurking in forums. I'm using the taylor k-2006 test kit and I'm not making an impact on dropping my Alkalinity.

Th 180 TC 3 FC 3 PH 7.4 TA 130 CYA 40

I'm trying to drop my Alkalinity down to 80 or 90. It wont budge. I add Muriatic acid assuming both TA and PH will drop. Ph goes down TA doesnt seem to change. I'm not sure what wrong but I keep testing and my TA remains the same.

Welcome to the forum!
There is no reason to focus on TA. When your pH reaches 8, lower it to 7.4. Your TA will come down over time.
Be sure to test the TA whenever you need to add acid to lower the pH. The TA result is needed in Poolmath to determine how much acid to add.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Welcome to TFP.

There is no reason in your type of pool to drop your TA. It is fine where it is.

With CYA 40 your FC should be 5-7. See...
