Just wondering if you can have too much yellow algae to treat or not! We had a bloom earlier this year and performed a SLAM. Well we went out of town recently and loaded the pool with liquid chlorine while we were gone. Looked ok when we got back but this week it is loaded with yellow algae! We need to close our pool but wondered if you can have too much algae to treat and if its best to start over next season if thats the case. Thanks for your help.

With an unlimited amount of liquid chlorine you can overcome any amount of algae.

You have to follow the SLAM Process step by step with no shortcuts and it may take a while to clear the 3 exit criteria.

You can tackle it now or next Spring. The algae will wait for you.

What is the reason to lower ph to 7.2? Will it help the chlorine be more effective
The PH test is invalid at 10+ FC so you get that in order to buy the Slam duration while you can’t test it accurately.

Yes, large amounts of chlorine are more effective at a lower pH. So lowering the pH to 7.2-7.4 gets maximum effectiveness from the chlorine you will add.
