To shock or not to shock.... that is the question!

I read that we should be shocking our salt water pool weekly. If the water looks wonderful do I still need to shock it?

If you keep your FC and CYA in the proper ratio per this chart, then you never have to shock your pool. FC/CYA Levels

Weekly shocking is a crutch for those that don't take care of their pools correctly.

I haven't had to bring my FC to shock level in over eight years (when I found TFP).

Welcome to TFP! You are in a good place here, with tons of informative advice!
I have never "shocked" or had to follow the SLAM in my pool! ( I realize I shouldn't have said that out loud)
Follow the guidelines in pool school and this is easy peasy!
