Timer for SWCG with VS pump?

Why do you need a timer for the SWCG? I'm asking because we just bought a Pentair Superflo VS pump, and I removed my timer since the pump doesn't need it. I didn't think the SWCG would need one. Hope I didn't mess up.

The SWCG must have the power removed when the pump is not running. You need a timer, other device, or run the pump 24/7 for the SWCG. If the SWCG powers on when the pump is not running, it can explode.

Put the timer back on. Mine is set to turn the SWG on after the pump turns on and to turn the SWG off before the pump turns off.
