HOAs can be a pain. I am in Montgomery, TX and lucky because our Architectural Review Committee typically turns around non-house stuff in 1-2 days. If the weather holds my dig will start this coming week.

Thats really fast and exiciting! We completed our outdoor kitchen recently (decided to not to do this with PB to save some cost). I had to get the HOA approvals for that and it was done in 2 days, so maybe we may get lucky and our pool build gets approved faster too

Remember, it's your money and your pool. The PB can give you suggestions, but you are the ultimate decision authority. If you want a SWG, direct your PB to install one.

Did you measure everything? Add about 3" for the shell and plaster. The water depth should be at the middle of the skimmer opening. Add 3" for each side for a total of 6" on the sides.

Wonder why they put the plywood or whatever it is under the steel? Have not seen that before. I do like how many "chair" they used to hold the steel off the floor.

Yes, after reading so many bad stories, I wanted to make sure we do our due dillengence as well. So I went and measure the pool dimensions, spa dimensions, depth, columns length, height, etc. As far as plywood, im not sure at the moment, but Im going to check with the project manager before they shoot gunite which is scheduled for tomorrow

So our Project manager told us those boards were masonite. If the ground is a little soft in an area, it helps to keep the rebar stands from sinking in the ground. He also said it has no affect on the integrity of the vessel

The steel was just completed on my pool this morning. The crew did the same thing with masonite.

I had the same thing with a few of my rebar chairs so that makes sense.

Our gunite got completed today. One of steps on the deeper end is not fully straight (highlighted picture), slightly curved. Was wondering if that's normal? Can it get fixed during plaster ? Going to talk with project manager tomorrow. Wanted to get some preliminary thoughts

No biggie! IF it really bothers you they could shave a bit off BUT you do run the risk of it going the other way. The plaster may even it out a bit. I assure you NO one will notice it when the pool is done and full of water.

Agree. Our deep end steps are similarly, if not more, sloped. Honestly, they had trouble getting the gunite to stay in place (I know one of them collapsed once) so the sloping just helps the physics out. The walls are different because they have rebar for the gunite to cling to. The steps are just big piles of gunite.

I was worried about the same thing on this step/seat and never mentioned it. Everytime I looked at the pool build it was the first thing I would look at.

Just finished our build. Plaster done and pool filled, I can't even notice it.

Mine are sloped. The water distorts them enough to where I can't tell.

Things have slowed down a bit. Post gunite, they have completed plumbing, excavated for the sunken pergola area. Next is tile and coping.

We did have an issue with the SPA drain being half inch crooked, our PB told us he will have his gunite guys chip, straighten it and use hydarulic cement over it.

Other than that, its going good and enjoying the process so far!

I did have a question.we requested all our equipments to be on the other side of the house, but our PB put these 2 ones here. One is for outdoor shower. Other one we were told is for Auto fill, does it need to be next to a faucet ? Wondering if we can move this to the other side as well.
