The husband finally let me take over and I don't want to blow it!!

The acceptable range for the CSI is between -0.6 and +0.6. You are at +0.06. That's a long way from worrying about scaling. Like ten times your current test result. If you do want to keep it slightly on the negative side of zero (due to your past scaling), then yes bring the pH down.
Yes, I want to bring it down slightly to see if along with daily brushing (concentrating on small portions at a time) it will help lighten the scaling "stains". So its ok to bring it down to 7.2?

Ok. So lowering your CSI just less than 0 really isn't going to get you very far. You won't see any serious calcium etching until you get below -0.6 but in order to do that you'll have to drop your pH and TA quite a bit. Also, everything with calcium in it, good and bad plaster alike, will be etching.

Why not consider a tool like the Purity Pools Spot Stain Remover?

Something like that will allow you to get concentrated acid (dilute the MA like 4:1 water:acid) directly on the spot without dropping the entire pool's pH.

I have never used this product before and have no relation to the product manufacturer but I saw it once and thought it was a neat idea for getting concentrated stain removers right to the affected area.

Just my $0.02 opinion.

I looked at the product but couldn't discern if it was useful for calcium scaling. What do you think?
It seems like it will take me til 2020 to do the entire pool since there's so much, but it would be worth it if it got it cleaned up.

I think it would work fine. You load the tube up with diluted MA (while over the pool water) and then rub it on the spots. Sure, it's not a wide area and it would take a long time to do a big scale patch, but it's got a much better chance at being effective than trying to turn your entire pool into an acid bath. It also allows you to concentrate your cleaning effort to an exact area.

Think of it this way - what if you do the acid bath thing and you lighten up 80% of the stains. Are you going to keep going to get the last 20% and risk damaging the rest of the plaster? Remember, when drop the TA and pH to lower the CSI, every plaster surface, good and bad, is exposed to potentially corrosive water. Does a surgeon amputate your toe to remove a ingrown toenail or does he target his excision to treat the affected area?

Thank you, but how do I get it on my avatar?

Avatar pictures have file size limits. You'll have to edit the picture on your computer and shrink it down to size. I believe there's instructions for avatar picture sizes.

Awwww, Thanks! I don't know what impresses me most about the pic. You, your grandbaby, or that sparkly pool. Great photo!!!

Right???? (Did you mean me actually getting in the pool....can you tell I'm cringing?)LOL!! I gotta go with the grandbaby....all the way!!
But thank you for the praise of the pool, the pic sure did make it look real sparkly! (Can't see the scale unless you're a TFP member).

Yes, its 10X10 pixels but thats greek to me.

When you go to your profile, there's a section for avatars. Here's what is say for uploads from your PC-

Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 6.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

The standard Windows image editor on any PC will allow you to open that picture up and convert the size of the original picture down to 100x100 pixels. Then you save it as a new file and use the TFP website to upload it as your avatar.

Oops yes, 100X100. Can I do it on an ipad?
Obviously I live a rather cloistered life....but I like learning new things so I appreciate your patience and instruction.

TH has the PC but I prefer the apple product so I rarely (only if I have to) use his PC.

I'm not an Apple person per se, but I think most iPads either have photo editors in then or there are apps available. Changing the image's pixel size is a pretty basic image manipulation function.

Now how to upload from the iPad to the website using the built in Safari browser...that will take some experimentation.

Tried it from my iPhone. Looks like it's pretty easy. Let's you access the camera or upload an existing photo.

So all you need to do is edit your image.

I'd suggest cropping the image to keep what you want (you and your grandchild) and then shrinking the cropped image to 100x100. Since images are rarely symmetric, only one dimension (length or width) will be 100 pixels, the other dimension will be smaller than 100. That's called preserving the aspect ratio of the image.

Double Uurg!!! TH's pool owning friend from Cali is over and they're out there deciding what is good for the......MY pool. I don't like it, they're getting too close, TH is skimming leaves (all 3 1/2 of them, if that many) while they're discussing something they won't tell me.......now they're laughing.

Punks! I found out he brought trichlor! If he dares.......I had to send them to the casino
