The beginning of an odyssey

Do you have a place well away from the pool area to keep that saved gravel? If it is anywhere close to where they will be working they will find a way to mess it up! I would hate for all of that hard work be wasted!

Long story but it was spread pretty thin and we fired the guy who spread it after the first load. I So most of it is going to the other side and spread and the rest will go on the left half. What we did already finished off the unfinished area.

I laugh when I say this coming from a 35.63 Acre property in Iowa but our lot is big for Arizona subdivision at just shy of a quarter acre. So the pool will only take up about 40% of the backyard. I could not tolerate a 800 sqft backyard like many of the houses have here. I need some empty space.

The dogs love the big fenced in space.

We will landscape ourselves next spring or maybe in the fall.

Two more lot pictures taken since I am at home.

Here are two more, or one of the best reasons to be in Arizona. And this is a just okay sunset.

Second one is Mt. Bigelow and Mt. Lemmon from standing at where the pool is going. No its not as pretty as my 35 acre farm was, but it's a lot less work, too.

If we ever move away from our home here in FL Arizona would be were we move! We LOVE it there! We have been there several times for the World Jet Ski races at Lake Havasu. We drove as we had my husband's skis in the back of the van. No better way to get know an area than to drive to it.

I see your "snoopavisors" were on duty LOL My dog tries to find a mid point where we are working so he can keep an eye on us. I bet they do love the large fenced in area. Do you think they will swim in the pool?

I bet the Labrador will. The Australian Shepherd was a dog that my daughter dog sat, and we just ended up with her. Sigh. The Springer spaniel isn't considered a water dog, but I would guess that if the other two do, she will as well.

And we somehow ended up with three cats as well. They stay inside.

Okay, hopefully this will work. It's difficult to manipulate this from a phone... Two of the lot this am and a closeish 3D plan drawing.. Where we are moving the gravel from in these photos is about a foot wider than the pool outline.

On the upside, at least you have a good size lot, unlike most of the cubicle living we have here. Pool, few trees, nice landscaping, and you should be good.

Trust me I paid extra for the lot. That is part of the reason I was a bit upset with the situation with DR Horton to say it as politely as I could.

I honestly don't get it, in the 6th largest state, with loads of open land why the people lets the local governments divide up the land that way. It just is mind boggling. Spacing the houses out here makes even more sense because of the fire danger.

But yeah, at some point it will be nice.

Just so everyone knows that I am still alive and such. This is slightly bigger than the area of the (planned) pool. And yes, it was worth it. I am guessing at the $42 a ton for the gravel we saved at least $600 worth. They measure Friday and supposedly dig a week from Tuesday. Anyone want to bet when the first heavy monsoon rain will probably be?

I started a new thread "continuation of an odyssey" in the under construction area.

Dig was delayed a day (which totally hosed my work schedule as I set up everything for Wednesday because of the "Tuesday" dig) so pictures will be coming in a couple of days. Supposedly the guy in front of me had a "hard dig" but I just chalk up to the concept of "Tucson time". Mañana man...

In that thread is a picture of the dead body paint mark outline of the pool in the Nuclear Arizona sun...

(We’re very lazy around here Rattus, we don’t like searching for stuff. So we’ll let your small oversight slide..... this time.) :laughblue:
Yeah. Actually I intended on doing this the next time I was on an actual computer. It's a bit of a pain on a phone...
