TFT Kit CYA testing instructions -- instructions unclear

After filling up the CYA bottle, the insert says to "mix then wait 30 seconds. Shake once more."

How long do I mix it for?

YouTube instructions for the Taylor kit (which I believe is the same) say to mix for 30 seconds. So do I mix for 30 seconds, wait 30 seconds?

Just mix for a good 30 seconds. A couple minutes will pass while you do the testing so it won’t matter.

Shake it for 30 seconds.

1. Don't go drop by drop. Fill the tube with the black dot line by line. (100 PPM, then 90 PPM, etc)
2. To check, stand in sun with back to sun and the test tube at waist level. Do a quick look. See the DOT? Pour more in to next line.
3. You can recheck you results by poring the test tube liquid back into the dripper bottle. No need to run new reagents.

Taylor instructions say to mix for 30 seconds. Here is what I do...

• Give the bottle a few good shakes to mix it
• Put the bottle down
• Wait 30 seconds
• Pickup the bottle and give it another shake
• Then the mixture is ready to pour into the viewing tube one line at a time

You can do it the TFT way or the Taylor way. Either gets you to the same place.

BTW, if your pool water is below 70F let the test sample warm up to room temperature before adding reagent and mixing. CYA is the one test that is effected by cold water.
