Delivered today. pH buffer pack says to mix in 250 ml beaker with DI water. Had no idea I'd need these and no idea where to look for a beaker. Not sure where to buy DI water either...have never needed either of these. Then I'll need a 250 ml storage container for each I guess? Sure would have been nice to know this when I ordered the kit. Suggestions?

I'm used to a lab pH meter being stored in a storage solution. That's not needed for this pen pH meter?

Is it calibrated before it is shipped?

What about the stirrer? Got the tiny instruction paper but don't see a stirrer base or bar anywhere. What does it look like? No paper inside the shipping box or kit that explains if this is a partial shipment.

cgz,

I am not a fan of the pH pen, but they all need to be calibrated on a routine basis..

The stir bar should be in a plastic bag with other items. Depending on which stirrer, it is either an X shape or just bar about 1/2" long.

The stirrer is pretty self-explanatory. Just fill the test tube to either 10 ml or 25 ml depending on the test, then drop in the stir bar and push the button.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Sorry that I missed your call - I was on the way to the post office.

Any container that will hold 250mL will be sufficient, and it will be helpful if you can store these containers so that if recalibration is required down the line, you still have the calibration solutions saved. Distilled water can be found at any grocery store and can take the place of the DI water the instructions indicate. No storage solution is necessary for this pH meter. The battery is already installed, but if replacement batteries are needed these same instructions can walk you through the process. The meter is not calibrated before it ships, but calibration is as simple as adjusting the recessed screw on the back of the meter. The two packets of pH powder can be dissolved into 250mL of distilled water each. Submerge the meter in one calibration solution then adjust the screw until the meter reading matches the pH of the standard. Repeat for the remaining standard.

The stirrer is on back order as noted on the product page and the homepage of TFtestkits.net. I am expecting them to be delivered tomorrow, and hopefully will be delivered to you by Monday or Tuesday.
Let me know if you need any further support.
