Over last six months now understanding more about testing and maintenance. Started out with Taylor K-1004 as that’s what was available here locally in Spain. Quickly moved up to K-1005 by mail order after I discovered TFP and needed to test CYA. Kits here are 50% more expensive compared to US pricing. My fault but I have duplicate reagents with some never going to be used e.g. R-0016 base demand and little use now for acid demand using Poolmath.

But the DPD test for TC and subsequent CC appears to be flawed unless I’m missing something. I can’t see how you can tell the subtle difference in color for 0.5ppm TC/CC ? If there are huge amounts of CC but you would want to SLAM before this.

Now realise the importance of the recommended FAS-DPD but at least I’ll use the R-0003!!
I wish we had the equivalent of TF Testkits over here to get just the right make up for testing.

What is a good expiry date for R-870/1 as the last kit contained some with short date.

This is why the TF test kits do not include these base and acid demand reagents. Pool Math provides a better answer to what is needed to obtain the desired target.

If the powder is dry (gray) then I have had good success if over 1 year old. I keep a dry packet next to my powder to pick up any moisture.
Please read the following and also refer to the links at the bottom of the article to Taylor Technologyies for their recommendations on shelf life.
