I received my test kit and jumped in head first 😐 I have tested three days in a row now and will post my results. I have read and reread the pool school articles and I think I have a tendency to overthink 🙂 My TA is high but my CSI is ok for now
Salt is a bit high and CYA low as well as I would like add borates. I know how to lower salt by replacing water (do I need to turn off SWG at all or reduce to 50% or?). What should I focus on first? Any suggestions are appreciated.
On a side note: I did a quick chlorine and ph test of our tap water and the ph showed 8.2 and chlorine was dark yellow showing high chlorine levels, which I will check again at their postings.

You can share your logs in poolmath but for now can't see your levels. I wouldn't worry about salt being high as long as the SWGC isn't complaining. Reducing salt cell or not has nothing to do with salt but rather about the FREE CHLORINE (FC). CYA aka stabilizer for a salt pool with SWGC is around 70ppm. See the CYA/FC ratio chart but at 70ppm CYA the target FC is 5. I like it a bit higher for extra insurance should something get in to the water so you're not skirting the fence.

And it’s raining cats and dogs now!
Also I added the acid yesterday in hopes of lowering TA then decided to read again and forgot to add chlorine after we swam and had my parents over

So you are maintaining your current level of FC with your SWCG set to create 1 ppm FC per day.

I had turned it down because the salinity was high
I’m not quite sure where I need to set it yet and have been running the pump in the default schedule which is 18 hrs run time

We also had 3 inches of rain yesterday and I haven’t had time to test today (we have a foster leaving). Will test later today

Also that was what was recommended by pool math but I do run it around 80% most of the time if not 100% if we have hotter weather?

To change the FC output you increase the %generation and/or run the pump longer. Speed of the pump does not matter as long as it is enough to satisfy the SWCG flow switch.
