We have black tar on vinyl liner. It is black spots all over the pool. We have treated it thinking it was black algae with no results. When you get out of the pool you’ll have black spots all over your feet. Any ideas what this is and how to treat it?

Can the "tar" be removed from the skim with petroleum jelly? That normally breaks down tar.

Do you have a wheeled pool cleaner? On some models, the tires can get real sticky and leave black marks.
