Tap water has between .3 and .5 copper in it already.

My perma salt system is 1yr old. Last year I ran into the problem of having too much copper. (After 4 days of running it on level 4.) I drained down, refilled, drained down, refilled, etc, with no difference. So I turned the system off. This year I decided to check my tap water. It already has the copper in it that the perma-salt system needs. If I turn the chamber off, will the copper in my tap water kill the bacteria? Is the chamber useless to me? Help, please.

What is the source of your tap water?

We recommend that copper never be put in a pool. Chlorine + CYA is an adequate sanitizer.
