Tanning Shelf/deck issue in Vinyl pool

Hello,

I recently put in a new liner and a 6'x20' tanning shelf in my pool. I put 2 Aqua lounger chairs on the shelf. I noticed 3 small holes a couple of weeks ago. Im not sure if its from the chairs or my yellow lab sitting on the shelf. The pool company thinks it could be the chairs because i filled them all the way up with water and when they get moved around they could rip the liner because they are heavy. Its going to be hard to keep the kids from moving the chairs around and even harder keeping the dog off the tanning shelf. I am wondering if they make a mat of some sort that i can put over the entire shelf to protect it better. I am not seeing anything on line but i would think this would be a good solution. Any suggestions?

I have no suggestions but I would be concerned a mat or other cover would be a great place for algae to take hold.

What about putting something on the legs of the chairs?

Thanks for your response, I will probably put something on the bottom of the chairs. I would just feel more comfortable if another layer of protection was down on that shelf now that see how easy it is to get a hole. Hopefully somebody has had experience with this and knows of something.

Anybody ever try using those 2'x2' foam exercise floor mat tiles? Pretty sure they wont float and they come in blue.
