Am I understanding something wrong? I am trying to get my TA down and it doesn't move very much. Here are my 2 tests from today and what I added.

Your TA moved about what would be expected…

What makes TA go up? I had it down to 120 at one point this season. I have only used liquid chlorine and acid this year. The liquid chlorine is from the pool store. The brand is online pool shock 12.5%

Adding higher TA fill water.

What is the pH, TA, and CH of your fill water?

From reading the article again I need to mainly just focus on keeping my ph in the proper range. I don't have any scaling issues and never have. Not sure if my ph is rising too quickly or not since this is my first year using this method and I do not know what is normal with this method. In past years I only had to adjust my ph maybe once at the beginning of the season and it wasn't much. My ph has been 7.8-8 for a couple weeks until today when we purposely dropped it. Looks like the pool store had my TA at 85-88 last year.

Pool Stores do an adjusted TA that makes your TA look lower then it really is.

Do not compare Pool Store methods with TFP methods. It will just confuse you.
