Syncing Pentair Superlo VS pump with existing Pool Heater

I bought a house last year with an 18,500 gallon inground pool. My pump just died and the local pool shop recommended the Superflo VS.

Will this pump be able to sync/communicate with an existing pool heater so that I don't risk the pump shutting off in one of its programmed cycles while the pool heater still running?

There is a monitor in my house that I used to control the old pump and heater and I know that it wont allow for me to shut off the pump w/o shutting off the heater and it delays the pump shut off by 10 minutes.

Adam,

The short answer is Nope... The long answer is nothing simple... You should be able to use your old control system with a little work.. Basically the heater would still work as always.. the new pump however gets constant AC power so you can't turn that on/off. I assume your old control system provided the power to the old pump.. So you could power a relay instead of the pump.. The relay would be wired so that 5 vdc, supplied by the pump, comes in on a NO contact of this new relay. When the relay is energized (heater on) the relay would close allowing the 5 vdc to pass through the relay and back to the pump, telling the pump to run at a specific speed.. As long as the 5 volts is there the pump will run.. Just as in your old system, the heater would shut off but the pump continue to run for 10 or 15 minutes... To do this you have to buy the special digital cable that attaches to the the SuperFlo VS...

Thanks,

Jim R.
