SWG Wired Incorrectly?

Wayne,

Well, they 'should' just pull right up, but... I just pull the white connector right off the board.. :(

They appear to be designed to pull right up, but maybe the plastic hardens over time or ????

In any case, wiggling the connector just broke the pins right at the main card.. Kind of like bending an old coat hanger back and forth to break it.

I suggest that you just pull straight up and not wiggle too much. The red plug can wiggle, but don't let the white connector wiggle.

Sigh!!

I will go out the pool on Wednesday to reroute the wires per Jim suggestion. But I have a question about the pool and spa water temperature setting. Can they be set temperatures separate and different in eithet spa or pool mode? Or the setting is only affect the setting temperature of the one you have its mode selected?
please explain how the setting and control/sensing temperature of the pool/spa sharing equipnent support to work.

Thank

Wayne

Wayne,

You have two temperature sensors.. One for the water temp and one for the air temp..

The same sensor is used for the pool water and spa water.

Now that I said that.... I assume that your spa spillover into your pool..

Is that true???

If true, then you can only be in the pool mode or the spa mode, but you can't be the the pool and spa modes at the same time.

Thanks,

Wayne,

To fix your SWCG power issue, you will need to do the following..

Just to make sure..... Might want to confirm that your SWCG transformer is currently connected to 240.. If it is, the Violet and Black SWCG transformer wires will be connected together with a wire nut. And the Yellow wire and White wire are currently connected to L1 and L2 on a 240 volt breaker... If true continue on..

1. Move the Yellow/Green cable from the Pump/Filter relay, and install it on your Aux 1 relay. Green to Line1 and Yellow to Load 1. (Just like it is now..)

2. Remove the coil wire for the Aux 1 from the Elect. Heat port, and move it to the Pump/Filter port.

3. Remove the Aux 1 coil wire from the Aux 1 port, and move it to the Electric heat port.

4. Remove the Yellow and White SWCG transformer wires from the Breaker and install them on the Load 1 and Load 2 pins of the Pump/Filter relay. (Does not matter which color goes where.)

5. Run wires from the Circuit Breaker and connect 240 volts to Line 1 and Line 2 of the pump filter relay.

Now, the SWCG will only get power when the pump/filter relay is closed..

Your heater will work from the Aux 1 relay, but you will never be able to tell the difference.

Obviously, you are doing all of this with the power to the EasyTouch shut off.

Thanks,

Jim R.
Jim,
I just have a chance to take a look at my IntelliTouch and compare with your items listed above. Following is items I think they should be changed to:
2. Remove the coil wire from the electric. Heat port, and move it to the Pump/Filter port.
3. Remove the Aux 1 coil wire from the Aux5/Cleaner port and move it to the Electric Heat port.

Please let me know if you agree with the changes. Also, in what case the Aux5/Cleaner would be used.

Thanks

Wayne

Wayne,

Your step 2 is correct...

Your Aux 1 relay is currently not being used.. It is the relay just to the right of the Pump/Filter relay. I don't see that this has anything to do with Aux 5/cleaner????? So I am confused..

Tell me where the Aux1 relay coil wire is currently plugged into the main card.. It "should' be plugged into the Aux 1 connector on the card..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,
It is plugged in Aux5/Cleaner socket on the main card.

Wayne,

That does not make sense.. When you push the cleaner button what happens?? Does a pump come on, does a valve move, or does the pump just speed up???

If you are not turning on a cleaner pump, then the relay is not needed so you can do your step 3..

This is what happens when the installer does not follow the diagram on the door.. It makes it impossible for the next guy to know how things should work.. :(

Sorry for all the confusion,

Thanks,

Jim R.

Very interesting question and open up my curiosity of why my cleaner is working or at least I thought it worked when the Aux 1 is unused.
Here is what I find out after I made the wiring changes including the steps 2 and 3 that I proposed as follows:
When I push the Cleaner button, the pump does come on if it was not in the Pool mode, the valve does move and the SWG power is:
- on if in Pool mode
- off if the pump is not in Pool mode.

At one time, when I selected the Cleaner function but not in Pool mode, the pump started running but then the mobile device display data was scrambling but I could not repeat this problem again.

Wayne,

Do you just have one pump? Or do you have a main pump and a booster pump for your cleaner???

If you only have one pump, then the cleaner button 'can' turn on your main pump (Via the com cable) and it can turn a valve. Neither of these actions need the actual relay to work,

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,

Thanks for helping me to learn how to fix and understand how my pool system is working. I think my SWG power is now working correctly.
