Good to go! Let that FC drop!

Happy Mood GIF by HBO Max

You know me - always another question… I emptied some water yesterday as I had an infinity pool with another storm on the way. Can I test and top up CYA and salt today? Or does that have to wait for FC to go down as well? Nervous I’m low on both again and will end up back where I started…

Top away. Welcome to life in Florida. You will be adding CYA and Salt all summer as rains do what they do.

Funny though, here on the east coast at least my area. We are not getting any rain. I am actually adding water to my pool right now, which is typically something I never have to do in the summer.

Storms storms storms!!! My dog is living in his thunder shirt right now. 🤣

You should add your pool to our hall of fame -->How Clear is TFP Clear?
I just did! Because I’m not sure there’s ever been a clearer pool in the history of clear pools 🤣 I just added 2/3 gallon of liquid stabilizer as CYA is back to 50. I was tempted to go the whole hog to get it to 80… but chickened out at the last minute. I’ll take it back to 70 first and then decide 🤣🤣🤣

So I’ve been thinking over this entire episode and was wondering a couple of things. The fact I didn’t clean my filter aside, when the pool was started up it went a greenish color a couple of times while the PB was caring for it. He put in chlorine and it cleared. Could it be that the water has never been healthy and the fact that I kept it so balanced hid that fact? Then the dirty filter combined with the lower CYA just let the issue develop? Or do you think this was the result of the cleaning filter debacle? It hadn’t been cleaned in probably 6 - 8 weeks and was murky, but not filthy. I’m not trying to allocate blame anywhere - just still trying to learn how all this works. Sorry to drive you mad… I’m a little too detailed for my own good sometimes 🙄

That is why I always suggest on extra day slam but to be on the safe side run the FC on the very hot side of target meaning high target plus an extra 2 ppm for the next 10 days. That ought to do it .

That’s my intention. And I’ll do another overnight test after that to be sure. Thanks so much.

First stop stressing you are good. If another OCLT makes you feel better go for it, never hurts to be sure.

To answer your earlier question, it probably has nothing to do with the first, but more to do with your PB letting it go green and then taking it back to clear. Your problems were not filter related, but FC related.

I have run a dirty filter for weeks, but with my FC high its never been an issue.

This is what I thought. I think it set in in those first couple of weeks and I’ve just held it at bay as I’m really careful about testing and balancing. Then the CyA dropped, the FC dropped and it sprung back up. Ok I’ll stop stressing - someone said here I should slam another day - and I thought oh no! Haven’t I fixed it!!! LOL. Yeah and the filter was dirty; but seriously not that dirty - I have a cover and I clean the pool all the time. Okie dokie! I’m good to go. Thanks for all the help and info. I really appreciate it: this is me signing out ☺️
