SWG and sacrificial anode

Hopefully this is an ok area for this question. Still new here.

My ex wife has a SWG and with my reading here and elsewhere, I was curious to see if you pool contractor put in a sacrificial anode. They did not, so I suggested she may want to think about it but check with her pool maintenance person to see what they thought. He stated since all the plumbing was new and PVC, it wasn’t necessary. I am still left to wonder about the heater and other metal parts the salt water comes in contact with in her system.

Thoughts anyone?

Internals of the heater that touch the pool water are PVC, copper, nickel, or titanium, none of which react with a zinc anode.

Monk,

We do not believe in the myth that saltwater pools need a sacrificial anode. Why would a saltwater pool require one and not a standard chlorine pool which can have almost the same amount of salt in the water.

They really do nothing..

On the other hand, you did say it was your EX-Wife, so I assume you just want to punish her... :poke:

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the replies. I was basing my initial research on the anode rod that are in water heaters. I figured if it’s something that would help with tap water, maybe it’s required/smart to use something similar on a pool line.

Thankfully @Jimrahbe , my ex and I have a continued solid relationship with each other and our daughters. We spend every weekend together.

Thank you!

Glen
