Swamp Fever

Absolutely progress. The left side is 4/22, the right side today.

I can see most of the bottom at the shallow end and the slopes on the deep end. Still can't see the bottom. But I can see my robot in the shallow end. This is what it's picking up

My filter vacuum which I used today at the deep end after shutting the main drain valve pulled up some rocks. No leaves appear to be down there anymore. I cleaned the salt cell as well.

I bet cleaning that gunk out, pulling up the rocks and seeing what your vacuum picked up that you’re going to start seeing serious progress.

Heater is connected and turned on. When initially turned on, the water coming out of the returns was cloudy, and with the heater on, I am seeing air bubbles from the returns. Is this normal? The water always circulates through the heater, and there are no bubbles with the heater off.

I also turned off the main drain, so the filter is only getting water through the skimmers. I want to see if it makes a difference in the filter clogging up. I can see the bottom of the shallow end pretty clearly, but it's still cloudy. Parts of what I can see on the bottom have a red staining, I'm trying to figure that out.

Good call on turning off the main drains if there is mud at the bottom. No idea on the red staining, but I would worry about that after your pool is clear.

Unfortunately, no. I wonder if the same gunk that is in your robot is in your heater. Do you have any sort of bypass where you can bypass your heater until your pool is cleared up?

Who knows what dust and crud was in the heater elements if it was just sitting there. Or if it was plumbed but had no water running through it, it can harbor algea. That is why I run my waterfall every now and then, to keep the pipes cleaned out.
I find when I am SLAMing.. I start by running my bottom drain exclusively.. since the crud seems to drop out in the beginning. I want to filter from the bottom and the returns send it back to the top. When I have all the heavy stuff out, then I switch to all the intakes.

When ours was brand new a few months ago, the PB said not to run the heater for the first month due to plaster dust. He said there are little tubes in the heater that can get clogged with the dust.

I'm wondering if the same applies to you with the other gunk.
